Richard had been with Alfa leisure since 1983, and had worn almost every hat that the company had to offer, including production manager of our entire 5th wheel plant. This made the foundation of a great leader, due to his ability to adapt to most situations encompassed during RV manufacturing. Richard also has the uncommon ability to make any customer laugh and feel at ease, by showing them the desire to put them first while at the same time showing them they’re in good hands. My background is mainly in quality control; I have been in the quality side of manufacturing since 2001. I was Quality Control Manager for a company that produced a specific line of orthopedic tools for Depuy, a branch of Johnson and Johnson. In 2006 I came into the RV industry as Quality Control Manager, and as a younger manager I was constantly thrown bombs by employees to test my, "thinking outside of the box" strategy. In less then a year I gained quite a bit of respect and was called upon to help in almost every nonconformity RV manufacturing has to offer. When I did not know the answer, I knew the person who did and I would dig deep to find out Cause and Effect. This is important when trying to improve anything, if you don’t know why it happened you’re leaving the probability of it arising again. Despite our valiant efforts and 360 degree turnaround of the service department (97% customer satisfaction record), Alfa Leisure was going to close their doors, due to the high cost of fuel, a struggling economy. Richard and I found it hard to turn our back on all the Alfateers that had turned to us for support in times of distress and worry. At which point, we came to one conclusion, "lets take them into our own back yard" and give them the same service that we had been offering at the Alfa Leisure plant, where we had customers driving from all over the country (as far as New York) to experience the difference we had to offer. RV’s are a very complex, high maintenance luxury. Having the correct team to suit your needs is hard to find.
